2022 is a milestone year for Metropolitan Industries, Inc.: we are celebrating 65 years of water innovations! A lot has changed since we started in 1957, but our commitment to providing innovative, specialized solutions to our partners and customers has remained the same. Now more than ever we wanted to take a moment to celebrate this incredible milestone and look forward to all the good things to come.
When we first began, we were little more than a home office repping various manufacturers throughout the Chicagoland area. Today we operate out of a 100,00 sq ft facility where we specialize in the engineering and manufacturing of custom packaged pump systems, fully integrated with our own manufactured controls. Under our roof, you’ll find dedicated teams such as R&D, engineering, fabrication, and our own U.L. control panel shop. It is through the dedication and coordination of each team that we can maintain our vision of being a single-source provider for pumping-related equipment.
In 2009, we launched the revolutionary Ion Digital Level Control Switch. The switch measures water levels using strain gauge technology, eliminating the need for moving parts. This leaves less room for issues when compared to traditional float style switches. The introduction of the Ion switch quickly expanded into a full product line of sump pump and battery backup systems for the residential and commercial marketplace. In 2014, Ion Technologies was officially established as its own brand under the
Metropolitan umbrella.
Our acquisition of Emecole Metro in 2016 expanded our influence into the concrete crack repair and basement waterproofing industry. We strive to provide solutions for all kinds of problems associated with water, and the inclusion of Emecole helps us maintain this vision. Emecole’s products can also be used for repairing issues that occur in concrete lift stations, elevator pits, housed systems, and below-grade mechanical rooms.
Additionally, in 2016, we formally established MetroCloud, our dedicated cloud SCADA water and wastewater monitoring system which provides end-users with highly intuitive pump monitoring capabilities. MetroCloud gives municipal and building managers a cost-effective option with the capability to monitor and manage their pump systems from anywhere, providing enhanced control efficiency, security and reliability.
Most recently, Emmons Metro joined the family in 2019. Located in Albany, NY, Emmons provides an extensive supply of pumps, equipment, and controls for municipal, commercial, and industrial applications. Utilizing their 25 plus years of product and market expertise, combined with the added resources of Metropolitan, Emmons Metro is fully committed to providing their project partners and end-users with optimized solutions that solve the most dynamic water movement and management challenges.
Though we’ve grown and expanded our offerings over the years, we’ve remained true to our focus on providing premium service. We know that the combination of good products and great people have made us a success over the past 65 years. Regardless of the evolution of the world, industry, and company, we look forward to providing solutions to solve the most dynamic water challenges with the most advanced pumping systems on the market today.
