PCB & Mechanical Assembly Technician

Job Summary:

Metropolitan Industries, Inc. is a multiple market sales, service, and manufacturing organization in the water & wastewater and Commercial plumbing & mechanical markets both locally and on a national basis. As a PCB and Mechanical Assembly Technician you will be responsible for soldering printed circuit boards and assembling various mechanical components to complete finished products.

Duties/Job Responsibilities:

  • Operation and set-up of a pick and place machine for printed circuit boards
  • Hand placement and soldering of through-hole components
  • Assembling circuit boards with enclosures and mechanical components using hand and power tools
  • Inspection and testing of finished products
  • Assist engineers with building prototypes and test fixtures

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient at soldering and use of simple hand tools
  • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Basic circuit analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to identify electronic components
  • Computer knowledge and basic math skills

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Job Type: Full-time


  • 1+ years of experience with the following:
    • Hand placement and soldering of through-hole and SMD components
    • Mechanical assembly using hand and power tools
    • Visual inspection and testing of finished products
  • Experience with the following is a plus (not required):
    • Pick and place machine operation and set-up
    • Reflow oven operation and set-up
    • Solder paste stencil printer set-up and application
