Embedded Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

Metropolitan Industries, Inc. is a multiple market sales, service, and manufacturing organization in the water & wastewater and Commercial plumbing & mechanical markets both locally and on a national basis. As an Embedded Systems Engineer you will design, develop, and test embedded electronic products from concept through production stages.

Duties/Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop embedded electronic products for various applications within the industry
  • Test and validate designs through simulation and prototype hardware
  • Develop embedded software for test and production boards
  • Participate in design reviews for software and hardware
  • Create and maintain design documentation for testing and production
  • Work with regulatory agencies such as FCC and UL to ensure design compliance
  • Troubleshoot and make improvements to new and existing designs

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the field of PCB design or a bachelor’s degree in engineering with 1+ years of career experience.
  • Proficient with computers, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Team player who is self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate innovation and passion for creating new products and learning new technologies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Job Type: Full-time

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience with the following:
    • PCB schematic design and circuit layout (preferably with Cadence Allegro or OrCAD).
    • C/C++ programming for microcontrollers.
    • Hardware and software testing and debugging.
    • Circuit evaluation using simulation software such as LTspice or PSPICE
    • Basic soldering skills for building prototypes.
  • The following is a plus (not required):
    • Power supply design and layout experience
    • Battery charger design for various battery chemistries
    • Cloud development knowledge using AWS services
    • 3D modelling experience with SolidWorks
    • Experience with Linux systems and scripting languages (Python, BASH, etc.)
    • Manufacturing and assembly knowledge
    • Experience with 3D printing
